VonHaus Angle Grinder

To start off our best angle grinders list, we are going to be taking a look at the VonHaus Angle Grinder. Why do we think this is the best option to start off our list? Well, simply put, the VonHaus is a nice, well-rounded angle grinder that has a very wide appeal.

Some angle grinders are very cheap and designed to be used for just a bit before being thrown away. Some other angle grinders are designed to be very high-end and therefore, very expensive.

The VonHaus exists in a middle ground between the two. It is well-made, but it also isn’t one of those super high-end angle grinders that is going to tank your budget. In other words, it is a nice middle ground.

The VonHaus Angle Grinder is a fairly high-performance option. It comes equipped with a powerful motor that is rated for around 2200 watts. That makes it one of the more powerful entries on our entire best angle grinders review list.

This translates into an RPM output of around 6000. Again, this is very impressive and it really helps to get across just how high-performance this tool is. To help support this high-performance tool, VonHaus has included a cooling system to help ensure that the tool doesn’t suffer from any sort of overheating.

It says wonders about the VonHaus Angle Grinder that our only complaint with the tool has nothing to do with the actual tool itself. In fact, our biggest complaint with the VonHaus has to do with the blade that it comes with. Sadly, the quality of the blade isn’t that good.

Thankfully, buying your own and attaching it isn’t a hassle and we imagine that most of you can do that quite easily. So, the impact on the tool is minimal.

Pros
  • Good cooling system that prevents overheating.
  • Powerful 2200 watt motor.
  • Can reach a maximum RPM output of 6000.
  • Reasonably priced.
Cons
  • Cutting disc is poorly made and needs to be replaced ASAP.

Bosch Professional GWS 18 V-LI Cordless Angle Grinder

The next angle grinder that we are reviewing is the Bosch Professional GWS 18 V-LI Cordless Angle Grinder. As you can quite plainly see from the name, the Bosch is going to be the first cordless angle grinder model that we are taking a look at as part of this review list.

So, some of the things that you will see in this article will differ quite a bit from other reviews since there are some notable differences between cordless and corded angle grinders.

One of the biggest advantages of the Bosch Professional GWS 18 V-LI Cordless Angle Grinder is obviously the increased mobility that it brings to the table. As this is a cordless angle grinder, there obviously isn’t any sort of cord that you have to deal with.

So, you can move around with the tool to your heart’s content and you never have to worry about the cord getting caught or tangled. Likewise, you also don’t need to worry about issues like finding a plug near your workstation.

Adding to the tool’s mobility is the fact that the Bosch Professional GWS 18 V-LI Cordless Angle Grinder is actually quite light. This is definitely the perfect option for those who have to travel to different job sites. It can be used easily just about anywhere.

While cordless options are always going to be slightly less powerful than their corded counterparts, the Bosch Professional GWS 18 V-LI Cordless Angle Grinder is still pretty powerful. It is equipped with an 18 volt battery, which gives it enough power to tackle close to the same number of jobs that a corded angle grinder would be able to.

Furthermore, the Bosch actually comes with a helpful anti-rotation guard, which helps to keep the tool stable when working. This helps to improve the overall accuracy of the angle grinder. So, you end up with a tool that is both fairly powerful and accurate.

Pros
  • A very lightweight tool.
  • Cordless, which means it is very mobile.
  • Surprisingly powerful, despite being cordless and light.
  • Comes with an anti-rotation guard for improved stability and accuracy.
Cons
  • Having to stop to recharge battery can be annoying.

Makita DGA452Z 115mm 18V Angle Grinder

For the next review on our best angle grinders list, we are going to be looking at what is easily the most high-end angle grinder that we have reviewed so far on this list and what is easily one of the better angle grinder options on the market as a whole. The angle grinder that we are going to be reviewing is the Makita DGA452Z 115mm 18V Angle Grinder.

Makita is not a brand that needs any grand introduction (especially if you are into power tools already). They are a famous brand that is on par with DeWalt and Black&Decker in terms of both fame and reputation.

So, we doubt any of you are surprised to see an entry from Makita appear on our best angle grinders list. The Makita DGA452Z 115mm 18V Angle Grinder is a good entry from them that lives up to the standards and reputation of the brand.

Given all that we have said about the Makita DGA452Z 115mm 18V Angle Grinder so far, you would expect this to be a fairly powerful tool. The good news is that it actually is quite a powerhouse. Boasting an impressive RPM output of 6600, there is no job that the Makita can’t handle.

This is made especially true by the fact that the tool comes with a very high-quality diamond blade that is perfect for cutting through a wide array of different materials.

This is the definition of a well-made power tool, both inside and out. The external parts of the tool are made of solid material that isn’t going to break easily. The internal components are housed in a solid gear box.

This is good as it not only prevents them from suffering physical damage, but it goes a long way towards preventing things like jams as well. Given that this tool is a bit on the pricier side, you would expect it to be relatively well-made and Makita definitely delivers in that regard.

Also, just as a little bonus, the Makita does come with a handy carrying case. It isn’t a major addition or anything like that, but it is a nice little bonus and it saves you from having to buy one yourself.

Pros
  • Powerful tool with a 6600 RPM output.
  • Well-made tool on both the inside and outside.
  • Comes with a diamond blade.
  • Reliable and durable.
  • Comes with a handy carrying case.
Cons
  • A bit on the pricier side.

Duratool 4-1/2″ ANGLE GRINDER 550W D03230

The next angle grinder that we want to take a look at as part of our review list is the Duratool 4-1/2″ ANGLE GRINDER 550W D03230. This is a good option for those operating on a budget or who may just need an angle grinder for one or two uses and who aren’t in the market for a long-term tool investment.

As you can see very clearly from the price, the Duratool 4-1/2″ ANGLE GRINDER 550W D03230 is not an expensive tool. In fact, it is the least expensive tool that we have looked at so far as part of our best angle grinders review list.

So, if you want an angle grinder just for a single project or if you are really limited by a strict budget, then this tool is a good compromise option. Sure, it doesn’t have the same quality as the other options that we have reviewed, but given how inexpensive it is, the Duratool is a decent option.

One really positive aspect of the Duratool 4-1/2″ ANGLE GRINDER 550W D03230 that we want to mention is how lightweight this tool is. As you have seen from other reviews on our list, weight is a decently important factor to consider when shopping for an angle grinder because you don’t want to have to try and use an overly heavy tool, especially for longer periods of time.

Thankfully, the Duratool 4-1/2″ ANGLE GRINDER 550W D03230 is not a heavy tool in the slightest. The fact that this is so lightweight means that it is a lot easier to use, especially on bigger projects.

Also, while this is a cheap option, it offers surprisingly decent performance. It isn’t the most powerful option on our list to be sure, but it does have a total output of 12,000 RPM. That is pretty good, given it is a budget angle grinder. You can’t expect a power tool to give you amazing performance when paying such a relatively low price.

Pros
  • Good performance, despite its price.
  • Very affordable angle grinder.
  • Lightweight.
  • Easy to use.
Cons
  • Not a very durable or long lasting tool.

DeWalt DCG412N 18V XR Cordless Angle Grinder

For the final review on our best angle grinders article, we are again taking a look at a high-end angle grinder from a very well-known brand. You probably don’t need to be introduced to DeWalt, especially if you happened to have bought power tools before. They are an extremely well-known brand for a good reason. So, we figured that the DeWalt DCG412N 18V XR Cordless Angle Grinder was a good way to end off our review list.

If you have ever used a DeWalt power tool before, then we expect that you already have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the DeWalt DCG412N 18V XR Cordless Angle Grinder. Much all tools from them, this angle grinder is made with durable components and it offers great performance to go along with the great construction of the tool.

This is the second cordless angle grinder that we have reviewed on this list. If you think back to the first cordless review that we did, you may remember that we mentioned that cordless angle grinders are often less powerful than their corded counterparts. While that is true, there are some exceptions, and the DeWalt DCG412N 18V XR Cordless Angle Grinder is one of them.

This is a surprisingly powerful angle grinder. It has a powerful motor that is capable of achieving an output of around 7,000 RPM. That is actually more powerful than some comparable corded models.
Of course, this is a DeWalt power tool, so you can also be confident that it isn’t going to break down on you or anything like that.

Pros
  • Power that is comparable to corded angle grinders.
  • Can achieve an output of 7,000 RPM.
  • Very durable and extremely reliable.
  • A well-made, signature DeWalt tool.
Cons
  • Pricey due to the brand name and the quality of the angle grinder.

Angle Grinder Buying Guide

Best Angle Grinders

In this second part of our best angle grinders list, we are going to do a quick look at how you should go about picking out an angle grinder.

While we know a good bulk of you aren’t going to need this guide, as you are already familiar with what to keep an eye out for when shopping for an angle grinders. However, this buying guide is aimed at those who maybe don’t have that sort of experience and are stumped as to what goes into making a specific angle grinder better than another option.

Understanding The Importance Of Attachments

Something that you need to understand about angle grinders is that, while tool quality is important, it isn’t the only thing that determines how well the toll is going to perform. Angle grinders are versatile tools and can have a wide variety of attachments.

If you have a really great tool, but a poor quality attachment, then you aren’t going to get the sort of performance that you would expect. You saw this a few times on our best angle grinders review list, where we reviewed a great tool that came with a poor quality blade.

Power

Given that angle grinders can tackle some pretty serious jobs (like cutting, grinding, sanding, and more) it is no surprise that one of the top things that you want to prioritize when shopping for angle grinder is power. You obviously want to make sure that the fool that you end up getting has the power to take on any sort of job that you have to deal with.

When it comes to measuring power on an angle grinder, there are a few things that you are going to want to look for. The first is the overall wattage of the motor. The higher the wattage of the motor, the more kick the angle grinder is going to have.

The second thing to look for is the overall RPM of the angle grinder. Each angle grinder has a max RPM (revolutions per minute) output. The higher that number is, the more the head will spin, which translates to faster job completion.

Weight

Angle grinders come in various different weights. Some are extremely light and some are very heavy. Ideally, you want a lighter angle grinder since those are going to be easier to control. Being able to have greater control over your angle grinder when working is obviously very useful.

At the same time, we do have to acknowledge that lighter angle grinders are often a bit on the flimsier side. So, you kind of have to find a balance between going with a lightweight option that might be a bit flimsy and a heavier option that is likely going to last longer.

Corded or Cordless

One last thing that we want to cover in this buying guide is the debate between corded and cordless models. Like many power tools, angle grinders come in both corded and cordless varieties. The benefits and drawbacks of each kind of angle grinder is largely the same as with every other tool that has both corded and cordless models.

Corded angle grinders are generally more powerful (we mentioned this a few times in our review list). Cordless models are generally more mobile and easier to use. So, it comes down to personal preference in the end.
